Children's Talk - we told the story of Joseph to the point
where he leaves prison and is able to interperate the king's dreams. These dreams were God warning that there would be seven years of plenty followed by seven years of famine. Pharoah [the king] was so grateful that he made Joseph, Prime Minister of Egypt. Joseph's role was to organise things during the seven years of plenty and prepare for the seven years of famine. "God meant it for good" was something Joseph said many years later.
In the Morning Service we concentrated on Haggai 2:21-23 making the point that God can and will shake up and overthrow everything. This reminds us of Jesus saying, "Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away". We faced up to the challenge that those who claim to be Christians must walk the talk; using Jesus' words "bear much fruit". However following Jesus Christ brings his joy into our lives.
