Children's Talk: Archers try to hit the target. Missing the target is one of the Bible's illustrations to describe us missing God's standards [sin] in the way we think, feel and do. Try as we might we miss the target because we are human. This is the reason for Jesus Christ coming into our world: in him we can be forgiven for falling short.
Morning Service [Acts 14;1-19]. Paul is on his first missionary journey. He faces intense opposition to the Gospel but for a long time declares is boldly. He and Barnabas have to flee for their lives from Iconium to Lystra. Here they encourage those listening to turn for empty, worthless idols to the living God. The mob catch up with Paul, he is stoned and left for dead.
Evening Service - Priests and sacrifices. In Leviticus chapters 1-5 the Lord declares that at the heart of true worship there must be a sacrifice for our sins, a priest to represent us before God and a sincere heart, that gives the best. Jesus Christ is the full and complete sacrifice and priest. We worship God in his name.
