Morning Service: Being the last Sunday of 2014 we thought about God's faithfulness over the past year. In the sermon we concentrated on Jesus' birth:
1. he came as a servant
2. he came as the guarantee for all God's promises
3. he came to give us hope.

We sang this great hymn:
GREAT providence of heaven –
what wonders shine
in its profound display
of God’s design:
it guards the dust of earth,
commands the hosts above,
fulfils the mighty plan
of His great love.
2 The kingdoms of this world
lie in its hand;
see how they rise or fall
at its command!
Through sorrow and distress,
tempestuous storms that rage,
God’s kingdom yet endures
from age to age.
3 Its darkness dense is but
a radiant light;
its oft-perplexing ways
are ordered right.
Soon all its winding paths
will end, and then the tale
of wonder shall be told
beyond the veil.
In our evening service we thought about these words describing Jesus Christ. They often appear on Christmas cards and give an insight into the wonder of Jesus Christ and the first Christmas.

Wonderful time was had by all! We sang many of the favourite carols. It was lovely to see family and friends meeting together. We stopped and left all the rushing about behind. We thought about why Christmas happens. We concentrated on the good news that the angels told the shepherds, "Today is born a Saviour - he is Christ the Lord"
The theme of today's services was very much that Christmas is centred on Jesus Christ: Emmanuel, God with us.
Children's Talks: we looked at an animation reminding us of the first Christmas. Jesus Christ becoming poor for our sakes.
Morning Service: In Luke Chapter 2 we are told that Jesus was born into very humble surroundings. He is the fulfillment of God's promise, saviour, light and glory.

Carol Service: What a great night. We sang many of the carols that are old favourites. Listened to Bible readings. Looked at the animated powerpoint of the first Christmas. The younger ones in the congregation did their parts admirably.
We ended the service thinking again about Emmanuel: God with us.
Tea, coffee, mince pies and cholcolate log all went down a treat.
Christmas presents: we tried to think about the best present we had last year and the best word to describe it e.g fab, awesome. One of the Bible's words to decribe God's gift of Jesus Christ is indescribable.
In Jerusalem 7-10 weeks after Jesus' crucifixion his disciples are told to stop telling others about him. Faced with this tough situation they pray. They remember that God is in total control and trust the situation to him.

Evening Service: The time came when Jesus Christ died. The point is made by the Bible writers that as Jesus dies then Scripture is fulfilled. God's plan and purposes are all coming together: Jesus dies to take away death's sting and curse.

Our Christmas Service was led by the Salvation Army. We remembered first Christmas with carols, poems and a short talk. There was plenty of traditional seasonal fare: home made mince pies and chocolate logs.
A good time was had by all.
There always a warm welcome for any of Dafen's ladies wishing to join us.
Children's Talk: We started learning this. "Emmanuel" is one of the titles given to Jesus Christ. He is God With Us [Emanwel: Duw Gyda Ni].
Morning Service. In Acts chapter 4 we read about the persecution against Christians starting in Jerusalem. Peter and John , who follow, Jesus are hauled up in front of the authorities. Peter tells them that the Jesus, who they rejected and killed has become the corner stone of God's work in this world: there is salvation in no other name!

Evening Service: In John Chapter 19 we read of Jesus' crucifixion. After being on the cross for several hours he calls out, "It is finished". The work he came to do was finished. Fallen humanity can now be restored to God.
