A nice, pleasant morning was had by all. There was an extensive range of delicious homemade cakes today and they went down a treat. In our Thought For The Day we concentrated on God knowing all things. This is an encouragement and also a challenge to us. The encouragement is that when we go through difficult times God knows. The challenge is that he knows every detail of four lives, including our emotions.
Children's Talk: Many years ago there was only one language in our world and the human race built a huge tower in opposition to God. God stopped them in their tracks by causing people to speak in different languages.
Morning Service: Our guest preacher was David Powell. He reminded us of the importance that as Christians we allow the word of Christ to dwell in our hearts richly
Evening Service: The Lord Jesus warns his people about false prophets. They try to deceive by being ravenous wolves in sheep's clothing. Their aim is not the glory of God but to take people away from believing and trusting Jesus Christ.
Children's Talk: We continued with the theme of "with God all things are possible". Elisha the prophet calls out to the LORD and a dead lad is raised to life.
Morning Service: Saul, Israel's king dies on the battlefield. He had been blessed in extraordinary ways but chose to despise the LORD and his word. Saul is a warning to us to take the LORD's word seriously.
"Nice to see people back from hols!", was the comment made by many. The home-made scones with plenty of chat, washed down with tea and coffee made for a good and friendly morning. Jesus claim to be the only way was our 'Thought For The Day'.
Children's Talk: Elisha the prophet performs a miracle that enables a widow who was in debt to obtain a large supply of olive oil. She is able to sell this oil, and clear her debts. With God all things are possible.
Morning Service: David is at a low point (fleeing from the king and his own men want to stone him). He strengthens himself in the LORD his God. The LORD is the unfailing father and friend to all who trust him.
Evening Service: Matthew 7:13-14. Jesus Christ declares that there is only one way to get onto the narrow path that leads to life i.e. the narrow gate. Jesus clearly points us to himself as being the way to the Father and the only name under heaven by which we can be saved.
