Children's Talk: The Bible teaches that God knows everything. He knows everything about us. Jesus taught to us ask for God's forgiveness each day.
1 John 4:17-21. If we believe that Jesus Christ is our Saviour and then enabled to love God and others with the same kind of love that sent Jesus to the cross then we can reason that we are genuine Christians. This assurance is a great blessing living now and as we look forward confidently to the Day o Judgement.
Judges 8. The LORD works a total victory for the Israelites against the oppressing Midianite army. The LORD's ultimate & total victory is seen on the first Easter weekend where Jesus works total forgives for those who trust him and conquers death.
We looked at the occasions when Jesus appeared to people after his resurrection. Following his resurrection, on several occasions he appeared to more than 500 people. He appeared to individuals e.g. Mary Magdalene and Peter, to groups of people and to a congregation of over 500 hundred people. The angles said on the first Easter morning to the ladies who had come to the tomb, "Why look for the living among the dead?"
Morning Service: 1 John 4: 12-16
We cannot see God but he has shown his love through Christ dying on the cross. This love is made complete as Christians love others as God has loved them. Through Christ's death on the cross we can "abide in God and he in us". We have an indestructible relationship with God.
Evening Service: (Judges 7), Gideon's vast army is reduced by the LORD to 300. On the face of it the Israelites are heavily outnumbered and face certain defeat. Gideon is fearful but the LORD enables him to overcome his fear. Israel defeats the Midianite army. The victory is the LORD's
Jesus appears to his disciples but Thomas is not there. He refuses to believe unless he sees Jesus and the wounds inflicted on his during the crucifixion. A week later Jesus appears again and Thomas sees him. Thomas falls in worship before Jesus saying "My Lord and my God"
Morning Service: 1 John 4:7-11
Christians are called on by God to love others as he has loved. God's love is constant, undeserving, self-sacrificing and self-giving. Jesus Christ dying, taking away God's wrath, is the greatest display of God's love.
Evening Service: (Judges 6:25-40)
The LORD has chosen Gideon to deliver the Israelites from the vast Midianite army. Being typically human Gideon is scared and doubts. he asks can the LORD deliver Israel through me. The LORD can, he gives Gideon assurance so that he will not doubt and his Spirit so that Gideon has the gifts needed to be his people's deliverer.
