This is desrt region - they get thirsty and are attacked by nomadic warriors [the Amalekites]. Through the Lord God demonstrates that he is more than capable to meet their needs: he causes water to gush from a rock and the Amalekites are overwhelmed. It was great to be in Maescanner ![]() Children's Talk: A week after the first Easter Sunday Thomas, the disciple who doubted, finally believes that Jesus has risen from the dead. Jesus Christ says to him, Blessed are you because you see and believe. Blessed are those who do not see yet believe. ![]() Morning Service [Preacher, Dr David Powell]: On the evening of the first Easter two of Jesus disciples are walking from Jerusalem. They are dejected and shattered - Jesus was dead. He joins them as they walk but they don't recognise him. He explains that the Messiah had to suffer and their hearts are warmed. They recognise him as he gives thanks before they eat supper. Some of the children took part, admirably, along with other members of the congregation. We sang many Easter hymns, listened to Bible readings looked at Easter and the significance of the key events of Easter week. 1. Palm Sunday - Jesus declares himself to be God's King. 2. The Garden of Gethsemane - the way of suffering is the only way for Jesus to complete his work. 3. The cross: "It is finished" - the work of reconciling God and us is complete. 4. Easter Sunday: Victory - Christ is risen form the dead. Easter is hope. the certainty that God blesses all who trust Jesus Christ. Yes, Easter Sunday 2015 was memorable! ![]() Nice relaxed morning once again. Plenty of discussion between various people. As always there's a warm welcome for anyone, wishing to join us. Bible Study Group: We met this morning and thought about "Communion". We looked at Jesus' words, just before being arrested: Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins and 1 Corinthians chapter 11. Communion is a great opportunity for those who trust Jesus Christ to stop, think about and give thanks for Jesus' crucifixion. |
