Joseph , due to his brothers' hatred, ends up as a slave to Egypt (but the LORD is with him). Things go well bu then he is falsely accused and is thrown into prison because he would not sin against the LORD when tempted by his master's wife. He may be in prison but the LORD is with him.
Morning Service: Daniel 4.
King Nebuchadnezzar is proud and refuses to acknowledge God's power & authority. He is shaken by a dream: this is God warning him that he will be humbled. Once again he ignores God's warning. It's futile to ignore the LORD's warnings - he always does all that he has declared. Pride is great sin that we must repent of.
Evening Service: Ephesians 6; The Belt of Truth.
As a belt pulled together the kit of a Roman soldier so truth pulls together the Christian's armour in the spiritual warfare. Jesus Christ calls the devil "the father of lies". The devil continually bombards God's people with lies. Christians counteract these lies with God's revealed, unchanging, declared and trustworthy truth and Word.
Joseph is thrown into a cistern by his jealous brothers. They sell him as a slave to traders. The dip his colourful coat in goat's blood and tell their father that Joseph, his favourite son, is dead.
Morning Service: Daniel Chapter 3.
Daniel's 3 great friends - Shadrach, Mishach & Abednego face a great dilemma. They Either bow down to the Emporor's great golden statue or faithfully obey the word of their God, which was never bow down to idols. In spite of the threat of being burnt alive in a furnace should they refuse to bow down they tell the king that they will not bow to the statue. The furious king throws them into the furnace but God delivers them, not from the furnace but, in the furnace.
Evening Service: Ephesians 6:11,
One of the devil's ploys in the warfare against the Gospel and God's people is to put pressure on the "flesh"; our emotions, minds and actions so that we compromise the Gospel and God's standards of living. Christians can fill their lives with Jesus Christ and so make no provision for the flesh. This is an effective tactic in the spiritual warfare.
Joseph is his father's (Jacob) favourite. THis is wrong and obviously it annoys his brothers. Matters are made worse when Jacob gives Joseph a colourful coat. When Joseph have dreams that make out that his family will all bow to him then his brothers' hatred intensifies.
Morning Service (Daniel 2:24-49).
"The Mystery of the King's Dream" can only be solved by God. He shows himself to be all powerful when we are faced with impossible situations. God declares that Babylon's Empire will fall, other kingdoms will follow it byt his kingdom will last for ever.
Evening Service (Ephesians 6;11).
The devil in his warfare against Christians prives to be a formidable adversary. He is the father of lies bombarding God's people with lies. He uses the world and our "flesh" (the part of us that is still not perfect) to tempt us to doubt, lose our joy and dishonour God. However Christians will stand firm in the Lord's strength, using the whole armour of God.
God promised Noah as he left the ark that he would never flood the earth again, season would follow season and daylight will follow nigh time. It has been so ever since just as God promised.
Morning Service; Daniel 2:20-23.
Nobody can tell the king his dream. He is outraged and orders that all his advisers be executed. Daniel & 3 friends pray: God hears their prayers. Daniel now knows the king's dream. Daniel responds by praising God and thanking him. God's reputation is mighty and wise. He is all-powerful and blesses his people so that they may serve and worship him.
Evening Service, Ephesians 6:11-13.
Christians face formidable spiritual enemies. However God gives us his approved resources: the whole armour of God. Using this Christians will be victorious and stand firm when confronted by their spiritual enemies.
