Community Sport Clubs and organisations within Carmarthenshire could benefit from a cash boost from the Sport Wales Community Chest Grant.
Sports or physical activity clubs looking to expand their current provision, introducing a new age group, increase the number or quality coaches could be eligible to access up to £1500.
Almost £90,000 was distributed to organisations within the county from in the last 12 months.
Typical of those who have benefitted in recent years are Clwb Hoci Dinefwr a’r Fro awarded were £978 in 2011 to increase the number of coaches and umpires at the club.
Llangennech Badminton club were awarded £1494 last year to establish a new badminton club
Peniel Community Football Club were awarded £851 in 2012 to set up an U7’s team.
County executive board member for leisure services Cllr Meryl Gravell said: “The grant provides funding towards activities that encourage more people to be more active, more often and to raise the standards of existing activities.”
Organisations can also apply for a second project that enables them to cater for interest generated via 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and to prepare for demand leading up to Glasgow 2014 and beyond or to tackle inequality - BME, disability (inclusion), women and girls, social inclusion.
