In 2013 Dafen Village Website was created, and launched on April 1st. Here's a brief look back at some of the year's highlights since then.
Also in April it was announced that 2013 would see Dafen get Superfast Fibre Broadband. Dafen Ladies' Leah Randell was selected to join the Wales Women's Under 17 training camp for the UEFA Development Tournament. St John Lloyd pupils were British finalists in a National Youth Speaking contest; and Dafen Under 12's won the JH Evans Under 12's Cup Final.
In May, Ruth Madoc unveiled a Blue Plaque in honour of Dorothy Squires at Aston House, New Road. Gallery
In June, land near the Crematorium in Dafen was listed as a possible location for a new Traveller site, and this was also the month that Plaid Cymru Llanelli argued that the County Council were aiming to sell Dafen Park. Lack of funding to maintain the parks playing fields was highlighted in July.
In August a six-a-side Cricket Tournament featuring a team from the Scarlets rugby squad and hosted by Dafen Welfare Cricket Club raised £1,800 for charity. Gallery and report
And Dafen CC secured their place in the first Division as the 2nd team wrapped up their season as champions.
In September, a Llanelli Star article about the Halfway Hotel went national as a man was accused of a 'psychic hoax'. In October, months after the County Council denied they were going to sell Dafen Park, they announced they were considering that parks, playgrounds and playing fields could be given up in the drive to support efficiency savings.
