Carmarthenshire County Council has reported that Bus Services throughout Carmarthenshire are about to be streamlined, with reduced frequencies and some loss of routes because of reduced funding.
From May 18th, of 30 routes affected, nine will be withdrawn, including Service L4 (Llanelli - Brynawelon - Llanelli via Prince Philip Hospital, Parc Pemberton, Parc Trostre & Penyfan).
County executive board member for transport services Cllr Colin Evans has pointed to a reduction in funding sources as the reason for "difficult decisions" being made by the local authority, along with commercial bus operators. He also indicated that the review had taken into account the usage of existing services and suggested that services that were poorly used were not sustainable.
Service L4 is operated commercially by First Cymru who has announced the withdrawal of Llanelli Town Services L3, L4 and L5 from May 18th.
