A Dafen man took part in a feature on Countryfile this Sunday, September 1st, as the programme headed to the Gower.
Anthony Lewis is a volunteer from the Ammanford branch of the British Sub-Aqua club who were joined by Countryfile presenter Matt Baker on a dive to clean up the Gower Coast.
The BSAC runs an annual Underwater Litterpick and the presenter helps the divers retrieve tin cans, bottles, fishing weights, lines, nets and plastic bags from under the water. The excersise featured on the prime-time television programme on Sunday September 1st at 7pm.
Anthony, from Nant Y Bryn said, “We really had a great day and Matt was just like one of the boys. We cleared a large amount of litter off the sea bed like discarded nets, bottles and cans all of which are hazardous to the marine life in Swansea Bay.”
Also on the show Ellie Harrison visited Swansea Docks to see how its once filthy waters are now so clean that mussels thrive there. And she found out how little yellow fish are helping people flush their waste water down the right pipes. Matt joined the divers who pull tonnes of waste a year out of the waters off the peninsular, before hitting dry land to hook up with the volunteers keeping its beaches pristine.
